Octávio Frias de Oliveira Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Brooklin, Brazil.
The Octávio Frias de Oliveira Bridge is a cable-stayed structure that crosses the Pinheiros River in the Brooklin neighborhood of São Paulo, Brazil. The two curved roadway levels are held by 144 steel cables attached to a 138-meter (453-foot) concrete mast.
Construction started in 2005 and the structure officially opened in May 2008. The project required over 58,000 cubic meters of concrete and was part of the modernization of infrastructure along the Pinheiros River.
The name honors the founder of the Folha Group, one of Brazil's largest media conglomerates. The structure has become one of the most photographed landmarks in the city and often appears as a backdrop in commercials and music videos.
The structure is best viewed from the riverside paths, especially at sunset when the lighting system is activated. Photographers prefer the vantage points along Marginal Pinheiros or the nearby parks for clear angles.
The two roadways cross each other at a 60-degree angle and share a single pylon, a technical solution found nowhere else in the world. The roadway surface uses the same material as the Interlagos racing circuit, providing better grip during rain.
