Goiatuba

Goiatuba is a municipality in south-central Goiás that functions as a regional hub for farming and food processing. The town sits in an area centered on crop cultivation and livestock-related industries.

The settlement began in 1860 when ranchers from Minas Gerais arrived and initially called it Bananeiras because of the abundant banana trees. The current name Goiatuba comes from a local term and represents the area's original identity.

The municipality maintains a strong educational focus with 24 schools serving over 9,250 students and achieving an 88.8 percent literacy rate.
