Forno Grande State Park

Forno Grande State Park is a protected mountain forest in Castelo covering roughly 900 hectares of Atlantic Forest. The terrain includes several viewing platforms, natural water springs, and a rich mix of plant and tree species throughout.

The area gained protection as a forest reserve in 1960 to safeguard the region's woodlands. In 1998, it officially became a state park through legislation.

This place functions as a space where people come to experience the Atlantic Forest and understand its importance for the region. Walking through its paths, visitors encounter the diversity of plant and animal life that makes this ecosystem work.

Visitors can reach the trails and viewing points on foot, though the terrain is hilly and requires some walking. Proper footwear and plenty of water are important to bring when exploring the park.

The park's highest peak ranks among the state's tallest mountains and features a rare cloud forest ecosystem at the top. This elevation creates a distinctive climate found nowhere else in the surrounding area.
