Pampulha art museum, Art museum in Pampulha district, Belo Horizonte, Brazil

The Pampulha Art Museum occupies a curved modernist building designed by Oscar Niemeyer, featuring marble surfaces and stainless steel elements near an artificial lake.

Originally constructed as a casino between 1942 and 1943, the building transformed into an art museum in 1957 following the national prohibition of gambling in Brazil.

The museum collection includes 1,400 works of Brazilian contemporary art, featuring pieces from notable artists such as Guignard, Oswaldo Goeldi, and Di Cavalcanti.

The museum complex includes a library, souvenir shop, and café, with gardens designed by Roberto Burle Marx containing outdoor sculptures along walking paths.

The building represents one of the first major works by architect Oscar Niemeyer, demonstrating his signature style through curvilinear forms and integration with the landscape.
