The Cristo da Paz stands 30.2 meters tall and weighs approximately 510.5 tons, constructed with reinforced concrete and iron materials on a hilltop location.

Construction began on January 9, 1998, and the monument was officially inaugurated on June 26, 1999, after community support transformed the original 10-meter design into the current structure.

The statue was listed as municipal heritage by Decree 628 of 2003. Its official name, Cristo da Paz, presents the figure as a peace symbol for Bom Jesus do Galho, and the hilltop image is one of the municipality's main tourist attractions.

The statue stands on a hilltop above Bom Jesus do Galho, reached by road up the hill or on foot; the sources give no trail details, so ask locally about the climb. The top is exposed, and the 30.2-metre figure is visible from much of the town below.

Originally planned as a 10-meter tourist attraction, community enthusiasm led to its expansion, making it the third-largest Christ statue monument in Brazil.
