Barra Seca, Nudist beach in São Mateus, Brazil.
Barra Seca is a clothing-optional beach along the Atlantic coast near São Mateus spanning roughly 2 kilometers of sandy shores. The beach is bordered by natural coastal plants and dunes that form the backdrop to the water.
The area emerged from settlement and economic activities of fishing and farming communities in the Espírito Santo region. Development followed historical patterns of coastal habitation in southeastern Brazil.
The beach serves as a meeting place for naturists who embrace clothing-optional living and is frequented by a dedicated community that maintains local customs. The social atmosphere follows unwritten rules that encourage respect and consideration among visitors.
The beach can be reached via BR-101 highway to Pontal do Ipiranga, then by ferry followed by a dirt road to the entrance. The access is easiest during dry periods when roads are more passable.
This is the only officially designated naturist zone in Espírito Santo state, reserved exclusively for this use. It serves as the primary gathering place for this community throughout the entire state.
