Museu Rodin Bahia, Art museum and historic mansion in Graça district, Salvador, Brazil.
Palacete das Artes Rodin Bahia is an art museum and historic mansion located in Salvador's Graça district. The building displays bronze sculptures by Auguste Rodin within gardens surrounded by century-old trees and native plantings.
The building was erected in 1912 as Villa Catharino for Commander Bernardo Martins Catharino and designed by architect Rossi Baptista. Interior decorations by Oreste Sercelli reflect the artistic influences of that era.
The name honors Auguste Rodin, whose works are permanently displayed here. The space serves as a gathering place for Salvador's art community, hosting rotating exhibitions that engage with both local and international perspectives.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday starting at 1 PM and on weekends from 2 PM, with full wheelchair accessibility throughout the grounds. The gardens provide shaded paths among the old trees, making a visit comfortable regardless of the time of day.
Four original bronze sculptures by Auguste Rodin stand permanently in the gardens, making this the only institution in Brazil to display these works. This collection attracts art lovers from across the country who want to engage with Rodin's work outside Europe.
