The Church of Saint Antony of Barra features a neo-classical facade, including 17th-century paintings and a rococo altar from 1780.
The initial construction of the church began in the late 16th century, with the first documented references traced back to 1592 in Salvador's early days.
The religious structure served as a residence for the Franciscan order in the 17th century before they established the Church of São Francisco.
The church remains an active place of worship within the Conjunto Arquitetônico e Paisagístico do Outeiro complex in the Vitória subdistrict.
During recent restoration work, construction teams discovered remnants from earlier periods, leading to the preservation of original baroque elements.
