Morro do Pai Inácio

Morro do Pai Inácio is a distinctive table mountain in Chapada Diamantina standing at 1,171 meters above sea level. The structure is defined by steep cliffs on all sides dropping roughly 300 meters vertically, creating an isolated profile above the surrounding terrain.

The mountain became a key landmark during the 19th-century diamond mining era as miners navigated through Chapada Diamantina. This role established it as a recognized feature tied to early exploration and mining operations in the region.

The mountain is rooted in regional folklore through a love story between an enslaved person and a farmer's daughter from colonial times. Local residents continue to share this narrative, shaping how people connect with the place emotionally.

The summit can be reached by a roughly 30-minute walk from the parking area on a maintained trail with stairs and handrails. The site is best visited in early morning or late afternoon to enjoy clearer views and milder weather conditions.

The mountain has an unusual geological shape resembling a giant table, with rock formations dropping vertically on all sides. This isolated table form resulted from erosion that exposed specific rock layers over millions of years.
