Cachoeira da Fumaça, Vertical waterfall in Chapada Diamantina National Park, Brazil.

The Cachoeira da Fumaça waterfall drops 340 meters from the cliffs of Chapada Diamantina, creating a thin stream of water through the air.

Bush pilot George Glass introduced this natural formation to wider recognition in 1960, though local inhabitants knew of its existence before this discovery.

The waterfall holds significance in Brazilian outdoor recreation, drawing visitors who trek through the Atlantic rainforest landscape to reach its viewing point.

Visitors can access the falls through a 6-kilometer hiking trail from Vale do Capão, requiring moderate physical preparation and appropriate outdoor equipment.

During periods of strong winds, the water disperses into mist before reaching the ground, creating a natural phenomenon that gave the falls their name.
