Área de Proteção Ambiental Marimbus / Iraquara

The Marimbus Iraquara Environmental Protection Area is a large natural reserve in Bahia that spreads across several municipalities and contains caves, waterfalls, and natural springs. The region combines limestone formations with wetlands and offers varied landscapes for exploration.

This protected territory received official recognition in 1993 through a state decree to preserve ecosystems adjacent to Chapada Diamantina National Park. The establishment was a key step in safeguarding these diverse natural landscapes.
