Chapel of Our Lady of Help

The Chapel of Our Lady of Help is a stone and lime church with a single story and straightforward layout. It contains a nave, chancel, sacristy, and porch, with a central wooden door flanked by two windows and a bell tower forming the main architectural focus.

Built between 1673 and 1687, this chapel replaced an earlier structure dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary that stood from the early 1600s. The replacement reflects how the community's religious needs evolved and led to a new building designed to better serve the growing congregation.

The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Help has gathered at this chapel since the 1870s, continuing religious traditions that shape local Catholic life. Visitors can see how this community connection remains visible in the care taken with the building and its sacred spaces.

The chapel sits on elevated ground in central Cachoeira, making it easy to locate and approach from the main streets. Access to the bell tower and choir level is provided by an external staircase positioned along the building's side.

The interior features religious statues of Saint Francis, Saint Benedict, Saint Lucy, Saint Cajetan, and Saint Peter alongside a stone-supported pulpit. This collection of sacred images reflects layers of devotion from different groups of believers who have worshiped here over the centuries.
