Praia da Boa Viagem is a beach in the Boa Viagem neighborhood of Salvador, about twelve kilometers south of the city center. Its golden sand is narrow, and the water is calm with few weak waves, making it suitable for nautical sports. The beach looks out over the Baía de Todos os Santos, and the Igreja da Boa Viagem, built in the 18th century, stands on the shore.

Praia da Boa Viagem was a landing point for goods brought in by sea, and the Igreja da Boa Viagem was built there during the 18th century. Documents record that the 1755 tsunami raised the waters off the beach by three metres.

The Maritime Procession of Bom Jesus dos Navegantes takes place here on January 1st, when thousands gather to celebrate this sailor's holiday together. The festival shows how important the sea remains in local religious life and community identity.

The beach lies about twelve kilometres south of Salvador's centre, in the Boa Viagem neighbourhood. Its few, weak waves suit nautical sports, and the narrow strip of golden sand holds stalls serving typical snacks and seafood. Come for the view over the city and Todos os Santos Bay.
