Pé de Serra, Municipality in Sisaleira region, Brazil
Pé de Serra is a municipality in Bahia's Sisaleira region, situated between two mountains in a hilly landscape. The area is characterized by agricultural land and traditional settlement patterns typical of interior Bahia.
The area was discovered in 1745 by three Portuguese brothers seeking fertile land, and they named it after finding a water source at the mountain base. This name reflected the importance of water to early settlers in the region.
The Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra performs at local events, including Independence Day celebrations and traditional street decorations during Corpus Christi festivities.
The municipality is reached by two main highways connecting to larger urban centers and supporting commerce. Visitors should prepare for country roads and local routes that cross the region.
Every January 6th, farmers and herdsmen gather for a traditional celebration featuring regional music performances and agricultural competitions.
