Praia do Buracão

Praia do Buracão is a beach in Rio Vermelho with golden sand bordered by volcanic rocks and clear waters. During low tide, a natural pool forms at the shoreline, creating a protected swimming area.

This beach emerged as a gathering point for Salvador residents during the early development of the Rio Vermelho neighborhood in the 20th century. Over time, the area developed into a popular destination with established facilities like the Blue Praia Bar.

The Blue Praia Bar serves traditional Bahian seafood dishes and hosts outdoor film screenings throughout the year. Local residents gather here regularly for social meetings and informal community events.

The beach is accessible through two entrances with stairs, making entry straightforward. The Blue Praia Bar offers chair and umbrella rentals, allowing visitors to settle in comfortably for the day.

This beach is noticeably smaller and more contained than other Salvador beaches, making it less crowded. The rock formations provide natural protection from strong ocean currents, creating a calmer swimming experience.
