The Cemetery Nossa Senhora da Soledade extends across 22,500 square meters, featuring neoclassical architecture with a central chapel and iron gates from England.
Established in 1850 during a yellow fever epidemic, the cemetery served as the main burial ground for Belém's population until its closure in 1880.
The cemetery contains approximately 30,000 burial sites, including the tomb of General Hilário Maximiliano Antunes Gurjão with a sculpture by Allegretti.
Located at Avenida Serzedelo Corrêa 514, the cemetery reopened in 2023 as Parque Cemitério da Soledade following extensive restoration work.
The cemetery's entrance features a portico designed by architect Pezerat with lioz stone masonry and decorative ironwork imported directly from England.
