Marine-Denkmal, War memorial in Swakopmund, Namibia

The Marine-Denkmal is a war memorial in Swakopmund, Erongo Region, designed by Albert Moritz Wolff and unveiled on 1 August 1908. It stands next to the former Kaiserliches Bezirksamt, now used as the Namibian president's summer residence. It has been a national monument of Namibia since 2 January 1969.

The memorial was designed by Albert Moritz Wolff and inaugurated in 1908 to honor the Marine Expeditionary Corps during the 1904 conflicts. It received national monument status in 1969, marking its formal recognition as a historic site.

The memorial stands beside the former Imperial District Office, now used as the Namibian president's summer residence. In 2015 unauthorized actions, including paint-filled bags, damaged it, and some individuals demanded its return to Germany, a request the Namibian government rejected.

The memorial is centrally located in Swakopmund and easily accessible on foot, with adequate space for exploring and photographing. The multilingual plaques help visitors understand the context without requiring additional resources or extended time to appreciate the site.
