Hartleyvale Stadium, Sports stadium in Observatory, Cape Town, South Africa

Hartleyvale Stadium is a field hockey stadium on Willow Road in Observatory, Cape Town, run by the City of Cape Town. The complex has two astroturf fields, with smaller fields nearby still used for amateur soccer. It was upgraded in 1996 at a cost of 20 million rand to a design by ACG Architects with GAPP Architects, and repaired again between September 2024 and January 2025 for R43 million, including new astroturf.

Hartleyvale Stadium was a soccer ground in the National Football League era, home to the original Cape Town City between 1962 and 1977 and used by Hellenic in the late 1980s. In 1996 it was rebuilt for 20 million rand, designed by ACG Architects with GAPP Architects as a regional and national facility backing South Africa's bid for the 2004 Olympics. The City of Cape Town now runs it, and it was repaired from September 2024 to January 2025 for R43 million, with new astroturf laid.

The venue serves as a polling station during South African elections, linking sports infrastructure with civic life in the neighborhood. This dual purpose shows how public sports facilities take on multiple roles within the community.
