The Western Province Council of Churches transformed an auto workshop into Community House in 1987, creating a base for trade unions during apartheid.
The walls display large murals documenting labor movements and community activists who fought against the apartheid system through various demonstrations.
Located at 41 Salt River Road, the center opens Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM, with modified hours during weekends.
Eight days after its inauguration, apartheid agents bombed the building, yet it continued operating as a central point for social change.
