Camps Bay, Coastal neighborhood in Cape Town, South Africa
The stretch of white sand beach sits between the Atlantic Ocean and the Twelve Apostles mountain range near Table Mountain.
The area belonged to San and Goringqhaique Khoi people until 1713, when European settlers established control following population decline from diseases.
The Roundhouse building transformed from a Dutch East India Company guard house into Lord Charles Somerset's hunting lodge during the 1800s.
Camps Bay lies 15 minutes from Cape Town center, with frequent public transport connections and numerous beachfront restaurants operating throughout the year.
The tidal pools constructed in the early 1900s remain functional, providing protected swimming areas separate from the strong Atlantic Ocean currents.
