Stellenbosch Local Municipality, Administrative municipality in Western Cape, South Africa.

The Stellenbosch Local Municipality spans 900 square kilometers of terrain, encompassing the towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and several smaller settlements within its boundaries.

Following its establishment in December 2000, the municipality has managed the region that includes Stellenbosch, the second oldest European settlement in South Africa after Cape Town.

The municipality integrates multiple communities through local events and initiatives, supporting both urban development and agricultural activities across its diverse neighborhoods.

Residents access municipal services through offices on Plein Street, where departments handle water distribution, waste management, road maintenance, and community development programs.

The territory contains numerous wine estates along the Eerste River, contributing to South Africa's wine production while maintaining environmental conservation practices.

South Africa in full scale: from cities to wild trails

From the windy tip of the Cape to the blue line of the Drakensberg, South Africa stacks landscapes that do not resemble each other. A morning on Table Mountain, an evening facing the whales of Hermanus, and between them red trails, deep canyons, lagoons, vineyards, and reserves where large animals pass through. Kruger opens its roads at dawn, Pilanesberg sketches an ancient crater, iSimangaliso blends reefs and wetlands. Further afield, the rugged coast preserves its cliffs, the Richtersveld its succulent deserts, and the Valley of Desolation its frozen lava columns. Here, travel is at eye and light level, to the rhythm of a vast land that changes its face at every turn.
