Exotic Animal World

Exotic Animal World is a zoo near Stellenbosch housing over 700 animals representing approximately 45 different species in natural-looking enclosures and outdoor spaces. The facility covers multiple acres and allows visitors to observe the animals in spacious, open environments.

The site began as a butterfly park before being transformed into an animal sanctuary, responding to shifts in international animal trade patterns. This transition occurred around 2020 when global changes prompted the facility to refocus its mission.

The zoo serves as a learning space where visitors discover animals from different regions and understand their habitats and behaviors. School groups and families use the center regularly to connect with nature and learn why wildlife protection is important.

The zoo is open daily for visitors to explore at their own pace on foot throughout the grounds. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection or rain gear depending on the season.

The grounds feature rescued parrots housed in large aviaries that visitors can watch from a nearby cafe while dining. This direct pairing of meals and animal observation creates an unusual experience during a typical zoo visit.
