Giraffe House, Wildlife awareness center in Stellenbosch, South Africa
Giraffe House is a wildlife center spread across about 15 hectares of land between Klapmuts and Stellenbosch, displaying African animals such as giraffes, crocodiles, and antelopes. The space includes different areas where animals live and move within designed environments.
The center was established to teach visitors about African wildlife and conservation through interactive demonstrations and educational programs. This teaching purpose continues to shape how the facility operates and what activities are offered daily.
The name comes from the giraffes that are central to the experience, and you can see how these animals live and move within the designed spaces here. The daily encounters with staff reveal how each species has its own needs and behaviors that visitors can observe.
You can reach the center from the main roads R304 and R101, which border the property. It helps to know in advance that animal encounters happen several times daily, so allow enough time for your visit.
The center keeps the smallest antelope species, the Blue Duiker, alongside the largest species, the Eland, showing the full range of African antelopes. This variety lets visitors see how vastly different in size related animals can be.
