Moolmanshoek Private Game Reserve

Moolmanshoek is a private game reserve spanning 3300 hectares in the Witteberg Mountains, with mountain streams, natural pools, and grass-covered valleys at 1740 meters elevation. The land operates under management that provides educational programs and outdoor activities for visitors throughout the year.

The land was transformed from agricultural property by the Nel family into a conservation area and recognized as a Natural Heritage Site in 1994. This transformation marked an early commitment to land preservation in the region.

The Leadership Development Centre organizes learning programs for corporate groups and schools that help people understand themselves and the environment better. Visitors experience activities designed to support personal growth and environmental awareness.

The reserve is open Monday to Friday between 7:30 and 18:00 and offers guided mountain walks, riding activities, and other outdoor experiences. Visitors should prepare for hilly terrain with varying conditions and bring appropriate clothing and footwear.

The reserve maintains a herd of around 300 horses including SA Boerperd and Endurance Arab breeds, offering riding experiences tailored to the mountainous terrain. These horse breeds were chosen specifically for their suitability to the landscape and provide a specialized riding adventure.
