Mont Ngafula, Administrative division in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Mont Ngafula is a commune in Kinshasa characterized by hilly terrain where the Lukaya River runs through several valleys. The area includes diverse neighborhoods and residential zones that extend across this southern part of the city.
The area began as a settlement of the Humbu people before being incorporated into Kinshasa in 1959. It received official commune status in 1968.
The Loyola University of Congo and Catholic mission Sainte Marie de Kimwenza establish Mont Ngafula as an educational and religious center.
The commune is home to two major hospitals, including one of the largest in the country. Visitors will find medical infrastructure and educational facilities alongside various urban services.
Despite being an urban area, Mont Ngafula maintains a cooler climate than most other parts of Kinshasa. Lake Ma-Vallée and Joli Camp provide green spaces where people can find natural surroundings within this densely populated zone.
