Central Province, Administrative division in central Zambia.
Central Province is an administrative region in the middle of Zambia that contains eleven districts with Kabwe serving as the main city. The landscape varies across farming areas, forests, and industrial zones where you can see different ways people use the land.
Mining shaped this region's development from the early 20th century onward, starting with extraction activities in the area now called Kabwe. This industrial past influenced how communities grew and how the economy developed over time.
The Lenje people have shaped the area's character through their traditions, visible in local crafts and markets throughout the region. Walking through settlements, you notice how these customs remain woven into daily life and community gatherings.
The province has road connections between district centers that make travel fairly straightforward between larger towns. Remote settlements may be harder to reach, so it helps to plan ahead before visiting smaller areas.
The region produces large amounts of wheat and other crops on extensive farms that shape how the land looks. This agricultural output plays a major role in feeding the country.
