Luangwa Bridge, Suspension bridge across Luangwa River, Zambia
The Luangwa Bridge spans 300 meters across the river, featuring H-shaped steel pylons that reach a height of 42 meters.
The original bridge from 1932 was funded by the Beit Trust and later destroyed, leading to the construction of a new cable-stayed structure in 1968.
The bridge connects local communities to South Luangwa National Park, enabling both residents and visitors to experience the natural heritage of the region.
Located 250 kilometers from Lusaka, the bridge requires maintenance during rainy seasons when water levels rise and currents become stronger.
The structure stands at 390 meters above sea level, surrounded by deep ravines and dense forest in the remote Eastern Province.
