Magoe National Park, National park on Cahora Bassa Dam shores, Tete Province, Mozambique
Magoe National Park encompasses 3,500 square kilometers of forests and grasslands along the southern bank of Cahora Bassa Dam in northern Mozambique.
The government of Mozambique designated this protected area in October 2013, transforming a former community wildlife management zone into a national park.
The park territory maintains connections with local communities who practice traditional resource management methods passed down through generations.
Visitors reach the park through Songo town, located 150 kilometers north of Tete, with camping facilities available for overnight stays.
The waters of Cahora Bassa Dam within the park boundaries contain large populations of tiger fish, attracting fishing enthusiasts throughout the year.
