North Luangwa National Park

North Luangwa National Park covers 4,636 square kilometers between the Luangwa River and Muchinga Mountains, featuring grasslands, forests, and varied wildlife populations.

The area received protected status as a game reserve in 1938 before its designation as a national park in 1972, marking a milestone in Zambian conservation.

Local communities participate in sustainable tourism initiatives, providing guided tours and sharing their knowledge of the land with international visitors.

Visitors can access the park through Mwanya airstrip, with the dry season from June to October offering the most frequent wildlife sightings.

The successful reintroduction of black rhinoceros in 2003 strengthened the park's position as a critical conservation area in Eastern Africa.
