Shiwang'andu District, Administrative district in Muchinga Province, Zambia
Shiwang'andu District spans 9,350 square kilometers of land with elevations ranging from 1000 to 2000 meters above sea level in northeastern Zambia.
The district emerged in February 2013 through the division of Chinsali District, following the establishment of Muchinga Province by President Michael Sata in 2011.
The Bemba language predominates throughout the district, with residents maintaining traditional agricultural practices and community-based forest management systems.
The district contains 17 wards and 88 zones, with 96 percent of land designated as traditional territory and 4 percent allocated for state purposes.
Lake Shiwang'andu, meaning 'lake of crocodiles', features natural hot springs and supports local tourism initiatives within the district boundaries.
