Our Lady of Kibeho

Our Lady of Kibeho is a pilgrimage sanctuary in Rwanda that features a chapel and prayer spaces for visitors and devotees. The site includes areas for worship, meditation, and gatherings where people participate in Mass and other religious services.

This sanctuary developed from visions reported by three students during the 1980s at a nearby school. The Church later gave official approval to the site, establishing it as an important place of pilgrimage and devotion.

The sanctuary holds deep meaning for local Catholics as a place where faith and community gather together. Pilgrims visit to pray and strengthen their spiritual connections in a setting that feels both welcoming and solemn.

Visitors can come year-round and will find guided tours available along with designated prayer areas. It is good to arrive with time to spare and dress respectfully when entering the chapel and other worship spaces.

This site holds the distinction of being the first Church-approved Marian shrine on the African continent. This recognition brought international attention and made it particularly significant for believers across the region.
