Rwanda Cricket Stadium, Cricket stadium in Kicukiro District, Kigali, Rwanda.
Rwanda Cricket Stadium is a cricket ground in the Kicukiro District of Kigali, built to host international matches. It has covered seating areas, practice nets, and a grass playing surface that meets the requirements for international competition.
The stadium opened in 2017 as Rwanda's first purpose-built venue for international cricket. Its creation was part of a broader push to develop the sport across the African continent.
The stadium hosts the annual Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament, a women's cricket competition held in memory of the victims of the 1994 genocide. The name Kwibuka means 'to remember' in Kinyarwanda, and the event draws players and supporters from across the region.
The ground is on the edge of Kigali in the Kicukiro District and can be reached by car or public transport. Arriving early is a good idea, as covered seating areas fill up quickly during popular matches.
Funding for the stadium was partly secured through a Guinness World Record attempt by national team captain Eric Dusingizimana, who batted without stopping for 51 hours. The feat drew international attention to cricket in Rwanda and helped make the venue a reality.
