Inema Art Centre, Art gallery in Kacyiru, Rwanda
Inema Art Centre is an art gallery in Kigali that showcases paintings and sculptures by ten resident artists. Located on KG 563 Street, the space displays works that reflect the creative output of local creators.
The centre was founded in 2012 by brothers Emmanuel Nkuranga and Innocent Nkurunziza, both self-taught painters. They created the space to support local creativity and provide economic opportunities for artists.
The gallery presents contemporary African art through exhibitions, workshops, dance performances, and poetry nights. Visitors experience creative expressions from artists across the continent in a shared space.
Visitors can watch artists working in their studios and purchase artworks directly from the creators. The cafe on site offers refreshments and a comfortable place to spend time between viewing galleries.
The Nziza Art Initiative within the centre showcases jewelry, textiles, and leather goods made exclusively by women from local workshops. This program connects traditional craftsmanship with economic support for female artisans.
