Big Ben

This mountain represents the highest point under Australian sovereignty, excluding territorial claims in Antarctica, making it significant for national identity.

Access to Big Ben requires special permits and advanced arrangements due to the extreme isolation of Heard Island in the southern Indian Ocean.

The volcano maintains regular activity since 1881, with documented eruptions in 1993, 2000, 2012, and 2016, producing plumes reaching one kilometer high.
