Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park

Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park stretches for about 100 kilometers along the coast, displaying limestone cliffs that rise from the water, sandy beaches, and forests that extend to the edge of the shore. Two prominent headlands, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste, mark the northern and southern boundaries of this coastal strip.

The park was established in 1902, making it one of the first protected areas in Western Australia dedicated to conservation. This early action reflected a growing interest in preserving native landscapes and the animals living there.

The Wardandi people have lived on this coast for thousands of years, and their connection to the land remains visible in stories and sacred places throughout the area. Their presence shapes how visitors experience the territory today.

You can enter the park at several points, with most access being free and straightforward. Sealed roads lead to the main attractions, though remote areas may require a four-wheel drive vehicle or more time to explore.

At Cape Leeuwin, the Indian and Southern Oceans meet, and a lighthouse sits high on the rocky point. In nearby Hamelin Bay, stingrays gather in shallow waters, and visitors often spot them while walking along the shore.
