Gambir 2

Gambir 2 is a railway station in central Jakarta with four tracks and two platforms that link different routes across the region. The facility allows passengers to move easily between connections and reach destinations throughout Java.

This station began as a small halt in 1871 and gradually developed into a major transportation hub. Extensive renovations carried out between 1988 and 1992 brought it to the modern state it is today.

This station serves as a gathering place where travelers from across Java meet before their journeys, making it more than just a transit point. The design blends local architectural style with contemporary needs, creating a space that reflects how Indonesians move and connect with each other.

The station is most straightforward to navigate during morning and early evening rush hours when trains run frequently. The south entrance offers modern ticket systems, while other entrances provide traditional access options.

Since 2023, the station uses facial recognition for ticket verification, a system operating at the south side of the facility. This innovation speeds up the ticket checking process and represents an early adoption of such technology in the region.
