Dukuh Atas TOD, Transit-oriented development in Central Jakarta City, Indonesia

Dukuh Atas TOD is a modern transportation hub in central Jakarta that brings multiple transit systems together in one location. Visitors can switch between commuter trains, the MRT system, light rail, airport express trains, and bus services without needing to travel between separate stations.

The site takes its name from a former duku fruit plantation that once served as a trading hub between central and southern Jakarta. This agricultural past has since been transformed into modern transit infrastructure.

The name Dukuh Atas is thought to come from the duku fruit plantation and duku trading that once existed here; the village of Dukuh was later split into the higher Dukuh Atas and Dukuh Bawah. Since the 1960s the area has been known for nightlife, with bars and nightclubs serving the middle and upper classes, alongside street vendors who feed nearby office workers at lunch. Since mid-2022 the sloping park above the MRT station has drawn teenagers showing off their outfits, a gathering dubbed Citayam Fashion Week.

The 250-metre Serambi Temu Dukuh Atas bridge, opened with the Jabodebek LRT on 28 August 2023, links the LRT station to Sudirman station across the West Flood Canal. It has three zones with commercial areas and can be used by cyclists. Streets Blora and Kendal in front of Sudirman station are closed to motor vehicles and turned into a wide pedestrian corridor.

The area features a 20-story building housing ticket offices, shops, bike-sharing points, and recreational spaces all in one place. This mix of practical services and leisure spaces makes the site feel like more than just a transit stop.
