Cimahi

Cimahi is a city in West Java, Indonesia, located directly west of Bandung within the Bandung Metropolitan Area. It is divided into three main districts: Cimahi Selatan in the south, Cimahi Tengah in the center, and Cimahi Utara in the north.

The construction of the Great Post Road in 1811 by Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels created a checkpoint at Cimahi Square, shaping early development. This transport route connected Java from west to east and encouraged settlement along its path.

The name comes from Sundanese words referring to the Cimahi River, which provides water to the area. Local markets and public squares show Sundanese language and traditions in everyday life.

Visitors arriving from Bandung can reach the area via main roads leading from the east, while local buses connect the three districts. Most shops and services are located in the central areas of each district.

Several military training centers shape the cityscape and are scattered across different districts. The area also hosts numerous textile factories, which rank among the largest production sites in the region.
