Great Mosque of Surakarta

The Great Mosque of Surakarta is a royal mosque featuring a three-tiered roof structure and tall walls that enclose the grounds. The complex includes separate prayer areas, ablution facilities, and dedicated sections for women according to Islamic prayer practices.

Sultan Pakubuwono III commissioned construction between 1763 and 1768, making it the religious center of the Surakarta Sultanate. A minaret was later added in the 1920s, expanding the sacred complex.
