Air terjun Tanah Merah

Air terjun Tanah Merah is a waterfall in Samarinda that drops about 15 meters and forms a large natural pool at its base. The water flows through dense forest surrounded by large rocks that shape the landscape around it.

The waterfall was discovered by local residents and later developed as a tourist destination over several decades. This gradual development continues to shape the experience of visiting this location today.

The waterfall area contains rare indigenous trees including Ulin, Gaharu, and Benuang, which hold economic value for the local community.

The site is reachable by public transportation with a short walk on paved paths after arrival. It is helpful to wear sturdy footwear since the ground can be wet and slippery near the water.

The water has a brownish tint from the surrounding peat soil, yet remains clean and refreshing to experience. This natural coloring makes the place stand out in the region.
