Rawa Aopa Watumohai National Park

Rawa Aopa Watumohai National Park spans 105,194 hectares across four regencies, featuring lowland rainforest, montane forest, savanna, swamp, and mangrove ecosystems.

The area transformed from a hunting ground in 1976 to a nature reserve in 1980, before receiving national park designation in 1989.

Local communities maintain traditional relationships with the park's resources, particularly in the mangrove areas where fishing practices sustain their livelihoods.

The park provides opportunities for birdwatching with 155 bird species, including 37 endemic species, alongside hiking trails and photography locations.

The wetland ecosystem houses 323 plant species and rare animals like babirusa and anoa, while serving as a critical water management system for the region.
