Nigretta Falls, Punchbowl waterfall in Southern Grampians Shire, Australia.
Nigretta Falls plunges 25 meters (82 feet) over red volcanic cliffs, splitting into multiple cascading streams. These water flows converge into a deep pool at the base, creating a striking natural basin.
The site was once called Upper Wannon Falls and marks a key section of the Wannon River. This river originates in the Grampians mountains and has carved through the red volcanic landscape over millennia.
The reserve shelters native plants and wildlife that thrive in this natural habitat. Walking through the area, you notice how local species depend on the flowing water and surrounding vegetation for survival.
You can reach the falls from the town of Hamilton via a sealed road that leads directly to the reserve. Parking areas, picnic facilities, and viewing platforms are set up for comfortable access to the waterfall.
During winter, water volume increases noticeably, creating intricate patterns across the red rock face. This seasonal transformation inspired locals to call it Little Niagara Falls.
