Peebinga Conservation Park, Conservation park in Murray Mallee region, South Australia.
Peebinga Conservation Park is a protected area in South Australia's Murray Mallee region covering around 3,361 hectares. The land contains three different habitats: mallee heath, shrubland, and forest.
The area was first protected as a Flora and Fauna Reserve in 1940 and was later redesignated as a Wildlife Reserve. It became an official Conservation Park in 1972.
The name Peebinga comes from an Aboriginal word for a rock hole that once existed in this Murray Mallee region. This connection to the land remains part of the park's identity today.
The park is located about 45 kilometers north of Pinnaroo along the Browns Well Highway toward Loxton. Visitors should bring all necessary supplies since there are no facilities on site.
The park is an important bird area hosting about 89 bird species, including both larger non-perching birds and smaller songbirds. This variety makes it a remarkable spot for birdwatchers.
