Lalor, Federal electoral division in Victoria, Australia
The Division of Lalor is a federal electoral district covering suburbs south of Melbourne including Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, and Wyndham Vale. These communities span an expansive area with varying residential character from established neighborhoods to newer developments.
The division was established in 1949 and named after Peter Lalor, who led miners during the Eureka Stockade uprising. He later served in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, making it fitting to name an electoral district after him.
The division contains the highest percentage of children under four years in Australia at 9 percent, while maintaining the lowest proportion of residents over 65.
Voters can check their local representative and election information through the Australian Electoral Commission. Boundaries are reviewed regularly to ensure fair voting and appropriate representation for all residents.
Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard represented this electoral division during her time in office. Since then, the district has evolved into one of the nation's fastest-growing areas with notably young population demographics.
