Chapel Off Chapel, Arts venue in Prahran, Melbourne, Australia
Chapel Off Chapel is an arts venue housed in a renovated former church building with three distinct performance and exhibition spaces. The main theater seats 255 people, a separate loft space accommodates 150, and an art gallery completes the spaces available.
The building was constructed in 1859 as an independent church and served religious purposes for more than a century. In 1995 it was converted and reopened as a performing arts center.
The venue hosts independent musicals, cabaret shows, and Australian theatrical productions throughout the year. Local artists find here a space to present work that might not find room in larger commercial theaters.
The venue is located in Prahran on Little Chapel Street and offers regular programming throughout the year with music, theater, and dance performances. Visitors can purchase gift vouchers and find a diverse calendar of different performance types.
Major international music groups including Coldplay and Foo Fighters performed here before achieving worldwide success. These early performances show how this venue helped launch the careers of now-famous artists.
