Legges Tor, Mountain peak in Tasmania, Australia
Legges Tor is the highest peak in the Ben Lomond range, rising to 1,572 meters (5,157 feet) above sea level. The rocky summit provides views of the surrounding mountainous terrain and can be reached via marked walking trails.
The mountain was named after William Vincent Legge, who conducted extensive surveys of the Ben Lomond region between 1905 and 1912. His detailed mapping work contributed to understanding the area's terrain.
The mountain and surrounding landscape incorporate numerous hiking trails that local residents and visitors regularly traverse for mountaineering activities.
The summit can be reached by walking trails that begin from the mountain village and the Carr Villa hut in the northern foothills. The route requires moderate fitness and is best tackled in stable weather conditions.
The mountain sits far from other major peaks and serves as a distinct geographical reference point in northeastern Tasmania. This relative isolation makes it easy to spot as a landmark in the landscape.
