Commercial Hotel, Albury

The building was completed in 1939 under architect W. H. Merritt and Snider Constructions, marking the first tall structure in the regional town at that time. This construction represented a turning point in Albury's urban development during the pre-war period.

The Commercial Hotel represents a rare interpretation of Bauhaus style in rural New South Wales, employing functional design principles that were less common in regional Australian architecture. Visitors can still see the clean lines and practical spatial organization reflected in the building's facade.
