Kitekite Falls, Multi-tiered waterfall in Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, New Zealand
Kitekite Falls descends in three distinct tiers over a total height of 40 meters, culminating in a large pool at its base.
The area surrounding the falls underwent kauri logging operations from 1910 to 1921, during which time all mature trees were removed.
The original name Ketekete refers to a clicking sound used before ambush, according to Te Kawerau ā Maki elder Rewi Spraggon.
The walking track to reach the falls spans 2.75 kilometers and takes approximately 60 minutes to complete, including 3575 steps along the route.
New Zealand longfin eels inhabit the rocks at the base of the falls, while rare moss species grow on the wet surfaces.
