Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre, Sports and community venue in Tauranga, New Zealand
The Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre is a multipurpose hall with three full-sized indoor courts located in Tauranga. The spaces are marked for basketball, netball, volleyball, and badminton, with movable partitions allowing multiple activities to happen at the same time.
The facility underwent major renovation in 2006 that upgraded its systems and amenities significantly. This work made it one of the primary indoor sports venues in the Bay of Plenty region.
Local sports teams and community members gather here regularly for training and competitions throughout the year. The seating areas fill with spectators who come to support their teams during events.
The center opens from 9 AM to 9:30 PM on weekdays and 9 AM to 6 PM on weekends with typical hours. Check the event schedule ahead of time since training sessions and tournaments vary throughout the month.
The hall features electronic scoreboards and a recessed stage that allows it to transform quickly from sports events into a concert or theater space. This flexibility makes it serve many different types of gatherings for the community.
