Marrickville Town Hall, Heritage town hall building in Marrickville, Australia

The stone building at 96-106 Illawarra Road features a two-story structure with a prominent portico and decorative lion statues on its front steps.

Edmund Blacket designed this civil building in 1879, making it the fourth oldest town hall structure in Sydney and a significant example of Victorian architecture.

The building houses a World War I memorial with a 4-meter bronze statue of Nike, commemorating 450 local residents who lost their lives in combat.

Located at the intersection of Marrickville Road and Petersham Road, the town hall stands 7 kilometers southwest of Sydney's central business district.

The Department of Education acquired the building in 1922, transforming it into part of Marrickville Public School until 1985, before its conversion to pensioner housing.
